Little Tree

Man, can you even believe that it's December?! I sure can't. I also can't believe that I haven't posted anything since October. I've been making lots of things, but they have mostly been gifts and I don't really like to share gifts on the blog until they have been given!

So instead here are a few pics of some holiday related things, like our little tree, a little present under it and some gift wrap I made.

Adam said he didn't want anything for Christmas, but I still got him a couple little things. I told him that that little gift is a pack of cigarettes and that I thought he might like to take up the habit, (they're not and he doesn't) but he doesn't believe me. 

I made the wrapping paper with some stamps that I had carved a while ago and a paper bag. I love wrapping stuff in kraft paper. I think it looks so nice! Oh and that pom pom was unused decor from our wedding!

I'm really into and can relate to the indifference on this bear's face. I, too, feel indifferent about many things.

Hand Printed Coasters - DIY Project

I have a fun little project for you guys today. It's simple, you can easily customize it, and it's useful!

I think that these would also make a great gift along with a nice glass or mug, some tea or coffee or, well, you get the idea. Oh and that drink in the picture, I'll be doing a post on that later. It's a little somethin' somethin' I made up today. 

The fabric was printed using hand carved stamps that I made a few years ago. If you'd like to learn how to make your own, you can watch my video tutorial. And! If you like to use the same shapes for your fabric you can download the template here!

I carved this custom stamp today:

It kind of reminds me of Paula Small's haircut in the Psycho Delicate episode of Home Movies. I think the crooked mouth definitely helps!

It was so nice out today. I almost felt bad telling my mom that it was in the upper 60's when she is on the east coast and about to deal with a good old Nor'Easter! 

Hand carved stamp tutorial

Last week I asked on the S. Jane Facebook page if anyone would be interested in a tutorial on how to carve stamps. A bunch of people said yes, so today while I was finishing up a custom stamp, and the sun was shining I decided to make a video.

I've never done any kind of tutorial before and certainly not a video one, so any feedback would be great! It's a little long, but I wanted to be thorough...ok, here goes! I hope at least one person learns something, ha!



Whoa, talk about nerve wracking! It took less time than I thought but I'm not really a fan of being on camera so it's a good thing the video is mostly my hands! However, after listening to it, I'm pretty sure I could have also called this video "Lisp party 2k11".

Custom stamps

I did a couple custom stamps the other day. I was just asked to add some details to two of my regular designs and they came out so cute!

I forgot how much I liked carving stamps so I'm glad that I've gotten some orders lately. Maybe I'll design some new ones?

Also, unrelated to stamps but so excited to finally get some other projects I've been thinking about actually started! These are going to be real soon!

Mr. Mustachio



It's not all hot in the house today! It's great! It's been much easier for me to be productive instead of being a lump in front of a fan. However it did make me not want to get out of bed because I was actually able to snuggle under my sheets.

i love carving stamps! it's so much fun. i am going to go to the store tomorrow to get more stuff to carve. it's kind of relaxing and the material is so smooth to cut. fun fun fun.
