Catch you later, 2k9! Also, GIVEAWAY!

I have to start by saying I am SO GLAD that 2009 is coming to an end. This was a hard year for me and I will happily kick it's butt out the door and make room for 2010. And soooo...part of this butt kicking is making way for some new work and what better way to do it than a giveaway!

So here's the scoop!

Leave me a comment with something you are looking forward to in 2010. Please make sure to include your name and e-mail address so I can contact you if you win! Giveaway will be open until midnight on Sunday Jan. 10th. Only one comment per person, please!

Here's what you will win! (Sorry for the kind of crappy pic, it's been a dark, dark day here and I had to take this under the light from my OTT lamp. Not flattering!)

2 sticker sets (Sarah vs. the zombie and Gossip!), 1 hand carved stamp, 1 mini notepad set and 3 animal career badges (you can even have different colors than shown, if you want and if I have them)! I will probably also toss in a couple surprises because I'm just nice like that!

The winner will be announced on Monday Jan. 11th right along with a Buddy Monday post!

A few things from Christmas.

Adam and I drove up to Seattle to have Christmas with my Dad, my bro Chris and his lady, Megan. It was nice to spend a few days away from home and relax.

My Dad's apartment is in the Eastlake neighborhood and he has nice views from his porch of Lake Union, the Olympic mountains, the Space Needle (which isn't hard to see from anywhere in that city) and a bunch of other stuff.

This was my dad's tree. I thought it was real at first because I was tricked by a pine scented candle! It was very pretty and sparkly. Seriously, all the presents he wrapped were in glittery paper. The whole scene was pretty damn magical. Oh, also there was a white porcelain nativity scene under the tree and I can't even tell you how many times I knocked over on of the wise men. I think it was a Christmas miracle that it made it through unbroken.

Oh and speaking of magical things....

Let me just start off by saying that I think we all knew from the moment we opened the kit/ when Megan tried to mix the water and shortening together/ we had to use a Grey Goose bottle as a rolling pin/ whatever else we did wrong that we would not be eating any part of the ginger bread house. So yes, we did use one of those candle lighters to melt the chimney pieces to stick them to the house and yes, we did shingle it with Sun Chips and yes, that is, in fact a potato skin walkway. My dad seemed less than impressed but Chris and I were feeling like we were pretty damn clever.

Annnddddd one more pic!

Mikey! Chris and Megan's pooch. He's one cute lil fella!

So all in all, it was a good Christmas. I got a zillion craft supplies some funny new dishes and makeup and Adam got a bunch of cool stuff and a robot!

Buddy Monday

I'm going to be starting something new within the next few weeks here on the blog:

A weekly feature of the creative people in my life. I am fortunate enough to have friends in all different fields of art and craft and I want to share their works! So get ready to get punched in the face awesome!

It's the sound of my shoes.

First off - this video/song has been stuck in my head ever since my friend Ashley posted it on my wall on facebook a few weeks ago.

It's pretty ridiculous/awesome and Adam and I can't stop making jokes about it. I'm also in love with the hairpiece that the girl is wearing in the video. Especially the pom poms! I want to glue some on my face right now!

Things are moving forward wedding wise. I finally popped the save the dates in the mail and made a special little card for two super cute little ladies asking them to be our flower girls.

I realized last night how little I have thought about my dress. I've probably thought about it the least out of everything! At this point I have spent way waaaaay more time hunting down possible bridesmaid dresses. I even ordered one last night to see how it looks in person (thanks, Ma!) and I'm really hoping it's super cute!

In other news last night I made a Sim who has kelptomaniac as one of her traits. She stole someone's bathroom sink. I think her compulsion is out of control!

Brrr

It's cold out. And I kind of love it! We live at the bottom of a hill so I really like walking Austin when it gets colder. It means not feeling really hot when I get to the top of the hill and seeing all the sparkling lights from the houses on the surrounding hills. I brought my camera with me when we went for walkies last night. I don't know what I was expecting but I got a couple shots that weren't a total blurry mess.

When Adam used to walk Austin he would put him in his harness or, as he liked to call them "his pants". Because Austin is 70 lbs of more or less total muscle I walk him with a Gentle Leader, or as Adam calls them, "his face pants".

People are putting up Christmas lights all over town and it makes me so happy! I do, however, really miss seeing all the lights up in the park and around the city in Portland, ME. Nothing beats those lights at all.

Stashes

Since I came home in September I have been sort of pushing stuff around in my craft room, trying to figure out how to organize it all. It's made me realize that I really admire people who have a place for everything. I would love to have my work space be nice and tidy but I just don't think it will ever be in the cards. However, I do think that I am getting close to a setup that will work for me. As much as I would love to share the work in progress, that will not be happening any time soon. It's just still too much of an explosion. But I will share a few things!

My mini fabric stash. It's humble but I always love look at it and all the colors and patterns.

And here is just a part of my yarn stash. Just the cool, worsted weight colors. (I'm crazy, I know. I would organize everything by warm/cool if I could.)

I have to take a break from crocheting today. My hands aren't all that happy with me so instead I'm going to work on something new I'll be doing on the blog. I'll tell you about it soon!
