"Eunice Chantilly wore that barette and I said it was tacky!"

My goal of posting often didn't survive the onslaught of pre-holiday duties.  Last week was a flurry of house cleaning, laundry, driving, family, friends and so so so much food.

I've been working on some more pouches and trying out different yarns. I think so far my favorite is a cotton/acrylic blend. It has just the right combination of softness and sturdiness and the colors I can get it in are soooo nice. Here is the first of the cotton/acrylic pouches all finished. It's lined with some awesome fabric that my mom gave me from her vintage stash. The button is also covered in the same fabric.

Today I am going to crochet my little brains out and catch up on some shows. It's a dark, cold, cloudy day so perfect for watching and crocheting!

Why are titles so hard to come up with sometimes?

So I'm really (maybe overly) excited about this pouch I made on Friday. I had an idea and I just tried it out and it came out better than I expected. Is that not totally exciting when that happens?!

(How perfect is it that that was the only button I had!)

This one was just kind of a test. I made a couple more today that have much nicer looking lining and cotton yarn. I can't wait to take some pics of those!

Yay!

Our save the dates came today! I get really excited/impatient about deliveries and kept peeking out the window on our door every time I heard a truck. (Which, by the way, when you live next door to a busy restaurant, is A LOT.) Oddly enough, the blue color that I was making such a fuss over before came out great and they gold color ended up a little strange but still looks a-ok!

I spent most of the evening working on envelopes, cutting the save the dates down to the right size and punching the corners. Also carving some stamps and working on an illustration. I haven't spent that much time hunched over the table in my craft room in a while. It felt great and also reminded me that I need a new, comfortable chair in there sooner than I thought. Also my thumb hurts from punching the stupid corners.

So excited! Just need a few more addresses and then we can send them out!

Stop it, rain!

Last week Adam mentioned that there only six months left until the wedding. Six months has never sounded like such a short amount of time before. We ordered our save the date cards on Sunday even though we had been meaning to order them since I got back in September. I drove myself crazy with the colors of a print preview not matching up to what I have in real life. Then Adam reminded me (about 100 times) that they are just the save the dates and we can worry about that for the actual invitations.

I don't want to share the design yet but here are the patterns I used on it!

I cannot wait to get them and then start stuffing some envelopes!

Candy! Candy!

My friends Matt & Matt had a super fun Halloween party this year. I wanted to make some spooky snacks for it and asked my pals Morgan (maker of beautiful yarns) and Casie (maker of super cute dolls) if they wanted to make some with me. We decided on making peanut butter cups and lollipops.

Both were easier than I would have thought, but it really, really helped that Morgan had made them before. If for no other reason than there were terms that neither Casie or I knew. We ran out of chocolate before we ran out of filling so I topped the rest with marshmallows and stuck them under the broiler in the toaster oven for a little bit. The lollipops were totally lopsided and funny looking but we just figured that hey..it's Halloween and they look creepy!

All in all it was a lot of fun and I hope we do it again soon. We were all even dreaming of having our own adorable candy/ gelato shop. What an adorable dream!

I got the needle craft crazies.

Just kidding. I don't even know what that means!

First off, thank you so much to everyone who commented on my last post. It really helped me feel better about where I want to take my work. I'm feeling renewed and really excited about some new projects.

Ok, but needle crafts. I have been doing a lot lately. I recently finished two commissioned embroideries that are super cute, started many paper on paper embroideries and have been crocheting a bunch. Last week I started plugging away on these:

They are so much fun! I just need to find my thimble because pushing a needle though layers of paper is getting a little rough on my fingers.

Yesterday I did some crocheting. I found this post on Bella Dia about crocheting covers for glass jars and I decided to try it. I had an old glass that I was using to hold stuff in my craft room. It had a chip in it so it's days as a drinking glass were over.

It was a really easy, fun project and a great way to add some extra color. I want to crochet some more covers for jars to use as vases because that is something Adam and I lack at our house.

So yeah, I'm feeling good!
